Open Meadow
MATI has been working with OMMS for five years is continuing a comprehensive and dynamic media literacy curriculum. This venture into a media literacy partnership between MATI and OMMS will continue to bring together a team of professional artists and volunteers, providing students with opportunities to explore the media arts, resulting in a public visual arts exhibit. Students will analyze media statements through a deconstructing process, consider the impact of media messages on consumers, and examine the emotional impact of artistic expression. Kids learn basic photographic techniques and discover ways to get their own messages into the community.
“For Jamie, a chronic non-attendee, a lot of the credit for his 90% average (performance and grades) is due to this partnership (between OMMS and MATI).” –Elizabeth Jensen, Open Meadow Principle.
“Open Meadow Middle School’s partnership with MATI has provided great opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and discover careers in arts and technologies. MATI’s instructors have designed engaging lessons which give students hands-on learning experiences in media literacy, journalsim, photography, and film making.” –Tab Waterman, Open Meadow Teacher.
